Vanessa is an Engineer for Research Computing and the Stanford School of Medicine. She specializes in system engineering, infrastructure development, and image and natural language processing for scientific computational analyses and workflows. She is the primary developer at Stanford for Singularity, and lead developer of Singularity Hub, a framework optimized for deployment of container-based workflows and "science as a service" capabilities.
Dr. Sochat received her Ph.D in Biomedical Informatics, also from Stanford University in 2016. As a graduate student, she developed an open source platform for development and deployment of behavioral experiments, The Experiment Factory, on which she continues to work, and contributed to open source databases for neuroimaging NeuroVault, and the Cognitive Atlas as a member of the Poldrack Lab. She was an Albert Walter Stanford Graduate Student Fellow, along with a Microsoft Graduate Women's Scholar, and a recipient of a National Science Foundation Graduate Fellowship. In the Radiology Informatics lab, she is the primary developer for imaging informatics and text processing pipelines to support research and infrastructure development for Stanford Radiology.
